Create your Own Mini Arcade

There are literally dozens upon dozens of ways to throw a party. You can go classy, with fine China glassware, tuxedos, and a swan made out of ice, or you can be nostalgic and populate your backyard with inflatable games and a giant freakin’ bounce castle. Or, if you’re really ambitious, you can turn your entire house, garage, backyard, or servants' quarters into a complete arcade, filled with all the classic games and pinball machines you used to toss quarters into when you were a teenager hanging out at the mall.

Renting video games is not a difficult task, though it can be expensive. A simple search will reveal numerous companies in or around your area that rents and sells arcade cabinets, as well as pinball machines, air hockey tables, foosball tables, and everything else that you need to turn your home into the type of arcade you used to hang out at when you were younger.

In addition to classic arcade cabinets and even newer games, many places also rent out full television and game combo setups that feature a wide variety of games. Obviously some of the most popular games will be party games such as Guitar Hero, Rock Band, Mario Party, and the like, but if the system you chose doesn’t have the game you want, you can easily rent the game from a local video store or online service such as Gamefly to serve your various needs. Some places even rent out non-traditional cabinet machines, such as the racing games Daytona USA and Cruis’n USA, as well as shooting games such as House of the Dead and Silent Scope (one of my personal favorites!).

You can even rent sports games! Yes, those games you shied away from when you were younger are also typically available from video game rental companies. These are typically relegated to foosball and basketball games, but some companies may offer items such as golf games and the like. If you don’t find what you like, you can supplement the items you did choose with inflatable games such as inflatable boxing rings and jousting rings from another party rental company.

Finally, some places will rent you complete video game room setups. This includes a specially designed floorplan catered to your space, numerous video games setups and systems, and even lessons on how to use everything and play the games.

Typically these types of setups are reserved for corporate events and people with plenty of money to spare on their special little child who just has to have the perfect birthday. To find out about costs and availability, you should call the various companies in your region and compare costs, as well as compare the amount of items offered. After a little bit of footwork you’ll be well on your way to having one of the best parties of your life.
